How it works

If you are interested in volunteering with the Burin Area Food Pantry Inc., please contact us at 709-567-8800.

Volunteers serve the food pantry for a calendar month in teams of two, with at least one of the volunteers having completed a safe food handling course.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Answering phone calls and scheduling appointments for patrons
• Packing food hampers as per guidelines
• Picking up and sorting all food donations as per Food Banks Canada best before date guidelines
• Ensuring food pantry is clean and well stocked at month end
• Assisting with special projects throughout the year
